We are offering an exclusive 5-star version of our puma tracking expedition, which includes 7-nights in the luxurious Tierra Patagonia hotel, experiencing the best of the world heritage listed UNESCO biosphere reserve Torres Del Paine National park in Patagonia Chile.

Once in a lifetime experience of one week in this pristine landscape, tracking and photographing puma for 4 days, and 3 days hiking in one of the worlds most spectacular National parks. Take time for yourself to relax, rejuvenate, and reconnect with nature.

The highest peak is Paine Grande towering 2,884m above sea level, and these remarkable mountain ranges are the spectacular the backdrop of our puma and hiking expedition.

This expedition is for lovers of photography, wildlife and pristine wilderness who are looking for an adventurous (and rejuvenating week), reconnecting to nature whilst enjoying a touch of luxury.

Track puma for 4 dedicated days, and hike for 3 days in spectacular Torres Del Paine national park, the world heritage listed UNESCO biosphere reserve.

Chantal Henderson, one of your guides has spent 15 years photographing and trekking in Patagonia and has completed the Torres del Paine “W” trek 5 times and the”0” circuit twice.

Rodrigo Noriega, Chilean born, personal bush-pilot for Tompkins Conservation, is passionate about puma, conservation and trekking, and will also assist leading the group.

A local expert puma tracker will join us on the puma days for the best chances to spot and photograph puma in the park.

The national park have regulations for puma tracking, so also having access to the adjacent private estancia gives us more flexibility and greater chances to see puma close.

Weather:

Be prepared for typical Patagonian weather (extremely unpredictable), especially on the cusp of winter! Wind, rain, sleet, and sunshine, all of which make for a memorable experience. Be prepared that it may snow, and if it does its a blessing that it helps with our puma tracking. Wind from the icecap can be very bitter so please take note of clothing TBA.

Suitability:

This particular trip is for the adventurous, those wanting to learn more about photography, wildlife and wilderness conservation, and for those who like a little touch of luxury.

This is an active and adventurous trip. Participants will need to be comfortable moving around as we track, observe and photograph puma sunrise and/or sunset.

Guests will need to be able to carry their own camera equipment in a day pack, as we walk around areas of the national park. We will cover approximately 10-15 Km /day, it all depends on the cats.

FLOATPLANE to a remote alpine lake in the heart of Corcovado National Park for the ultimate overnight wilderness campout.

 Floatplane 1:40 hours overflying stunning Pumalin National Park famous for its rich Valdivian rainforests, ancient Alerce trees, breathtaking fjords, waterfalls and volcanos, to arrive at an alpine lake (2000 ft above sea level) in the heart of the wilderness of Corcovado National Park.

After water landing and securing the plane for the night, hike part way up Corcovado Volcano for spectacular views of the surrounding Andes, lakes, volcanoes, and the Pacific Ocean to the west. 

Swim in the lake after the hike, spot puma footprints, and campout under the stars with a roaring fire enjoying a BBQ and Chilean wines. This trip is totally remote and exclusive to our group. It runs Spring, Summer and Autumn.

Our vision is to bring you to the remote wilderness to allow you to reconnect with nature and to help inspire a new awareness of the importance of protecting pristine areas and National parks. 

Floatplane 1:40 mins overflying at low altitude the spectacular wilderness of Pumalin National Park famous for its rich Valdivian rainforests, ancient Alerce trees, waterfalls and smoking Chaiten volcano to arrive to Corcovado National Park. 

  • Water land in a remote alpine lake in the middle of Corcovado National Park, surrounded by soaring granite mountains and impressive 7500 ft Corcovado volcano (7,500 ft height) where we set up camp for the night.

  • Set up camp on the shores of the pristine lake (at 2000 ft) at the base of the Corcovado volcano, wilderness camp for the night.

  • Hike to the caldera (total 3-4 hour non technical hike) to enjoy spectacular views of the dramatic mountains, lakes, pacific ocean and the Andes ranges.

  • Enjoy a meal cooked over an open fire (Chilean chorizos, rib eye steaks, vegetables) sitting by an open fire and under the stars. Sourcing as much organic, nutritionally rich food as possible *Catering for vegetarians if required.

True remote wilderness experience. One and a half days, camping out under the stars.

Our expert Argentinean puma trackers and co-leaders are also professional photographers and have been tracking puma in Torres Del Paine for 10+ years.

  • 2/5 days exclusive “free range” access to the estancia (ranch) adjacent to the border of Torres del Paine national park where the puma frequent. The national park have regulations for puma tracking, so also having access to the adjacent private estancia gives us more flexibility and greater chances to see puma close.

  • Torres Del Paine park fees

  • Ground transportation to and from Puerto Natales, as well as in and around the park as needed.

Suitability:

This is an active and adventurous trip. Participants will need to be comfortable moving around as we track, observe and photograph puma in the area from sunrise to sunset. This time of year, sunrise is 8:30 am and Sunset 5pm (and these are the times when puma are most active).

Guests will need to be able to carry their own camera equipment in a day pack, as we walk around areas of the national park. We will cover approximately 10-15 Km /day, it all depends on the cats.

Weather:

Be prepared for typical Patagonian weather (extremely unpredictable), especially on the cusp of winter! Wind, rain, sleet, and sunshine, all of which make for a memorable experience. Be prepared that it may snow, and if it does its a blessing that it helps with our puma tracking. Wind from the icecap can be very bitter so please take note of clothing TBA.

Meeting point:

Puerto Natales, Chile: 23rd May 2019. Location & time TBA. Drop off is at Punta Arenas Airport 29th May in the morning. If arriving to Punta Arenas airport, I can help with logistics.

Cost: USD$3795 pp (double/twin share), or $3995 pp (single). (This introductory trip is 40% off normal cost).

If you’d prefer not to camp and have 6 nights accommodation instead, thats perfectly alright, just add an extra $250 USD to the cost. Or if you’d like to hire tent, sleep mat and sleeping bag from us, please add an extra $100 (or $50 per night).

  • Accommodation details will be confirmed soon, and all other details please don’t hesitate to ask.

  • This trip is perfect as an add on to “W” trek in Torres del Paine, and Mt Fitzroy hiking. W” trek which takes 5 days. May/June can be cold, however it is very beautiful (and not many tourists). If you'd like to do the “W” or some hiking, before the Puma trip, please advise and I will help with information.

  • Lens equipment, gear and clothing required will be outlined in a separate list.
